Here is our little house in Southern Pines. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We have lived here now for about five months. The landscape in North Carolina is so beautiful. It's amazing that we have a yard so green and it doesn't even need sprinklers (that's my favorite part because Doug used to constantly work on our sprinklers)! I've added some pictures of Will and Faith playing in the yard. I also took a picture of our backyard and the swingset Doug built for the kids. When we open our blinds in the house all we see are huge evergreen shrubs and trees--NO NEIGHBORS! It is so private and I love that! The yard is filled with relaxing sounds, diverse birds for watching, and funny little squirrels scavenging for food daily.

The Berry Patch

Today we had a home-school field trip to the Berry Patch. The kids went on a hayride, fed the animals, jumped off hay bails, did a potato sling toss, had ice-cream, and got to pick out a pumpkin from the patch. Faith got stung by a bee and was sad for a while, but when the pain subsided she began to enjoy the activities with the others. Thanks for a fun day home-schoolers!

My Little Missionary

I hope they call me on a mission (to Disneyland)
When I have grown a foot or two (or three or four)
I hope by then I will be ready (to make ramen by myself)
To teach and preach and work (and ride my bike all day long)
Like missionaries do (cause that's what missionaries do).

Here we are in Southern Pines, NC. We are at the train station attending First Night. During the summer Southern Pines celebrates the first friday night of every month with live music, venues, games and fun. We brought the children along and enjoyed face painting, nachos, and a visit by Shrek and his donkey (sorry no pictures of Shrek).

Wilmington Battleship

On day two of our Wilmington excursion we visited the battleship. It was a scorching hot day although the kids didn't seem to mind. We took a short self-guided tour of the ship and midway through the underground part of it William exclaims, "I need to go to the potty". If you have ever been in one of these ships you may already know that they are a maze and they do not have any public restrooms. After following the exit signs for what seemed like an eternity we were finally successful in making our way out of the ship and boy was William relieved! I remember when I was a child my parents took us to see some similar battleships. I hope my children will remember this day, but if they don't at least we have the pictures.

Wilmington Battleship Adventure

Day two of our Wilmington excursion we visited the battleship. It was a scorching hot day, but the kids didn't seem to mind. We did a self-guided shortened version of the tour. Mid-way through the ship William announced, "I need to go to the bathroom". If any of you have been on a similar ship you may know that there are no bathrooms on board. It took us a loooong time to find our way out, but we were successful and William was relieved! I remember when I was little our parents took us to see some large battleships in Washington. I hope my kids remember this, but of course if they don't we will have pictures to show them.
This was the first ever Wesemann Family Trip to the Beach! We drove to Wilmington, N.C. to share the wonders of the ocean with our children. We spent days preparing them for the experience. We talked about sand, salt water, waves, sea shells, sand castles, and more. We were prepared to spend a day or two relaxing on the shore. Total time spent at the beach.... almost 2 hours. Faith cried, "I want to go back to the hotel." Well, since the vacation was for the kids, that's exactly what we did. Day two we skipped the beach and went to see the big Battleship (more pictures to come). All in all, it was a fun little getaway.

Shirtless on the shore...like father like daughter.

Does Faith look excited? I think so!

Kate spent most of her time eating sand and
rubbing it in her hair and down her back. She
enjoyed a little sand chair we made for her by
digging a hole in the sand big enough for her bum.
She was happy the entire time!
